Shareware Industry Conference Report

Shiny New Award by Jeffery B. Byers

SIC Conference leads to retail deal with FormGen, Inc.

Telix Named Best Major App of 1995

Telix for Windows was recently honored as "Best Major Application" by the Shareware Industry Conference in Phoenix on June 26th, 1995.

On hand to accept the award were President and CEO Jeff Woods, and Customer Service representative Todd Emma. Telix for Windows won the award over two other communications programs and a popular text editor.

Telix for Windows was also runner-up in the Ziff-Davis Interactive Shareware Awards, also handed out at the SIC, in the Communications category.

An even more exciting result of the Shareware Industry Conference is the signing of Telix for DOS and Telix for Windows to the FormGen, Inc., affiliate label program, which gives Telix direct and immediate access to the retail channel. FormGen currently publishes many of the top game packages seen in stores, including Descent, Rise of the Triad, Wolfenstein 3-D, and recently acquired publishing rights to LucasArts' game library.

FormGen's relationship with all levels of the retail channel, from distributors like Ingram-Micro and Merisel, to top-tier stores like Egghead, Software Etc., and CompUSA, to mass-market retailers like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Waldenbooks, will enable Telix to reach the widest possible market.

There will continue to be a shareware copy of Telix available for evaluation, but registration via your local software outlet will be encouraged over direct purchases through competitive pricing on store shelves. You'll also save on direct shipping when buying your copies in a retail store.

We'd like to have your help in taking this big step that will benefit all involved (you, the stores, and deltaComm). Part of being successful in a distribution bid is to have the channel aware of your existence. We have everything else we need - a quality product with a good pull-through (sales traffic and history) with moderate visibility in the trade reviews such as PC Magazine and the Computer Shopper. The part that is the most difficult is making the retail stores themselves aware of the product, and of the demand for it.

If you'd like to see Telix for Windows in your local stores, please tell the managers of the stores in your area to ask their buyers about ordering it. The more requests that are made, the better the chances that we can break through the barrier and make it even easier and cheaper for you to acquire the cutting edge technology of Telix for Windows in your local stores.

Pardon Our Dust

Pretty building

As 1995 was being ushered in by the throngs at Times Square, deltaComm Development was settling into its new digs near the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Thanks to you, we'd outgrown our last office in less than 2 years.

Our new spacious office, built to our specifications in the fall of 1994, has ample room for us to expand into as we continue to grow and offer you more products and services. Our new production and staging area allows us to create and ship many more packages a day then we could in our old location.

The new space has a new phone system with the ability to quickly route calls to the proper department, to reduce and hopefully eliminate any hold times while waiting to speak to a customer service representative. We've added three new customer service representatives to better assist you.

All in all, its been an exciting three years of deltaComm, and we look forward to an even more exciting future as we try to outgrow this new building by writing more, and better programs to help solve your communicating problems and give you The Freedom to Communicate.
